Area of Research

Evolutionary computing. Neural networks, reinforcement learning. Motion control.

Academic Research projects

Evolving neural topologies for locomotion to find evidence of neural patterns similar to CPGs. Examining effect of gradual changes in physical environment on evolution. Finding minimal lattice energies, software tools for differential geometry.

Prior Experience

Five years of software performance, systems design/architecture, GIS, and business consulting.

Why a PhD?

To gain a deeper understanding of the possibilities of "experimental" computer science, especially with regard to evolutionary and learning processes.
